Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading higher on Thursday at 10:34AM

Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 4.42%), AVADHSUGAR(up 3.67%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(up 3.28%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(up 2.82%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(up 2.51%), Shree Renuka Sugars(up 1.88%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 1.38%), Uttam Sugar Mills(up 1.18%), DCM Shriram Industries(up 1.18%) and EID Parry(up 1.16%) were among the top gainers.

Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(down 2.95%), BAJAJHIND(down 1.62%), Sakthi Sugars(down 1.58%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 1.36%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 0.94%), Balrampur Chini Mills(down 0.88%), Rana Sugars(down 0.53%) and Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 0.13%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 287.2 points down at 16990.75, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 991.39 points at 56866.76 at around 10:34AM.

Axis Bank(up 0.72%), Cipla(up 0.68%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.54%) and Bharti Airtel(up 0.41%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Titan Company Ltd(down 4.34%), HCL Technologies(down 3.91%), Wipro(down 3.04%), Tech Mahindra(down 2.88%), Hero MotoCorp(down 2.84%), Nestle India(down 2.7%), Divis Laboratories(down 2.6%), Eicher Motors(down 2.58%), Shree Cement(down 2.49%) and HDFC Bank(down 2.47%) were trading in the red.
