Ahead of the meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority which is scheduled for January 27, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) called upon the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal to relax COVID-19 restrictions in the national capital amid the ongoing pandemic.
In a communication sent to LG on Wednesday, CAIT National President B.C. Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that COVID-19 restrictions in Delhi and across the country have very badly affected the retail trade, which suffered a loss of about 70 per cent in the last 25 days.
In the letter, CAIT suggested that non-vaccinated persons should not be allowed to move out from their home whereas, on the other hand, the odd-even system and weekend lockdown should be abolished.
The working hours of Delhi markets can be notified from 10 AM to 5 PM. A joint committee of trade representatives under each police station should be constituted with concerned police officials mandated to ensure compulsory compliance of the COVID-19safety protocols in respective markets, the trade body suggested.
The wedding season has begun from January 14 and as such, the limit of 20 persons for attending the wedding to 100 persons whereas hotels having dining areas and restaurants are allowed to operate with 50 per cent of the capacity, it added.
