Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi pitches herself as face of Congress in UP

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, said she is "the face" of the Congress when asked if she would be the chief ministerial face of the party in the assembly polls. However, she refused to commit whether she would be fighting this election.

Responding to a media query whether should be the face of the UP Congress in the election, Vadra said, "Are you seeing any other face from the Congress? Then?" When further pressed whether she meant she "is the CM face" of the UP party, she said, "Dikh toh raha hai na sab jagah mere chehra (My face can be seen everywhere)," a comment seen as her reference to the Vadra-centric campaign and posters of the Congress.

She was speaking at an AICC press conference where she and her brother, Rahul Gandhi, released a "youth manifesto", promising two million jobs for UP youth.
