Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks were trading higher on Wednesday at 11:21AM

Ashapura Minechem(up 2.13%), Coal India(up 1.27%), 20 Microns(up 0.79%), NMDC Ltd(up 0.64%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(up 0.53%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(up 0.49%) and Orissa Minerals Development Company(up 0.11%) were among the top gainers.

Oriental Trimex(down 2.79%), Aro Granite Industries(down 0.92%), MOIL(down 0.53%) and Pokarna(down 0.21%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 163.1 points down at 17949.95, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 581.8 points at 60173.06 at around 11:21AM.

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 2.5%), Coal India(up 1.18%), Bajaj Auto(up 0.85%), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.66%), UPL Ltd(up 0.51%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 0.44%), Tata Steel(up 0.43%) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.09%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Asian Paints(down 2.8%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 2.65%), UltraTech Cement(down 2.49%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 2.08%), Shree Cement(down 2.0%), Infosys(down 1.98%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.84%), Grasim Industries(down 1.81%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.72%) and Bajaj Finance(down 1.72%) were trading in the red.
