Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading higher on Wednesday at 10:14AM

Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 3.85%), EID Parry(up 1.98%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(up 1.85%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 1.31%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 1.09%), AVADHSUGAR(up 0.88%), DCM Shriram Industries(up 0.85%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 0.81%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(up 0.75%) and Bannari Amman Sugars(up 0.67%) were among the top gainers.

Simbhaoli Sugars(down 2.46%), Rana Sugars(down 1.18%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 0.92%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 0.68%), BAJAJHIND(down 0.30%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 0.25%) and Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(down 0.20%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 70.45 points down at 18042.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 277.09 points at 60477.77 at around 10:14AM.

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 2.9%), Coal India(up 1.87%), Tata Steel(up 1.75%), UPL Ltd(up 1.38%), Bajaj Finance(up 1.26%), Bajaj Auto(up 1.15%), Bajaj Finserv(up 1.14%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 1.13%), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.93%) and JSW Steel(up 0.71%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Asian Paints(down 1.97%), Infosys(down 1.76%), HCL Technologies(down 1.64%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 1.54%), Wipro(down 1.46%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.38%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.3%), SBI Life(down 1.27%), Shree Cement(down 1.2%) and UltraTech Cement(down 1.19%) were trading in the red.
