Bajaj Auto(up 1.06 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.71 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries(up 0.37 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(up 0.34 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Balkrishna Industries(down 1.13 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.97 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 0.96 per cent), TIINDIA(down 0.83 per cent) and Eicher Motors(down 0.74 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.25 per cent at 11569.25 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 106.15 points at 18006.9, while the BSE Sensex was down 388.53 points at 60366.33.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Alok Industries, JP Power and TV18 Broadcast were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Khandwala Sec, Tata Elxsi, Electrostl Cast, Elgi Equipments and Medplus Health Services Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while McDowell Hold, IGL, Spandana Sphoorty, Zydus Wellness and Dilip Buildcon hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
