Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.54% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded negative around 10:04AM(IST)on Wednesday in a weak market.

Biocon(up 3.73 per cent), Abbott India(up 0.28 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 0.24 per cent) and Lupin(up 0.17 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Granules India(down 2.66 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 1.31 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 1.29 per cent), Pfizer(down 1.27 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 1.15 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was down 0.54 per cent at 13623.7 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 79.75 points at 18033.3, while the BSE Sensex was down 309.52 points at 60445.34.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 32 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, JP Power, Alok Industries and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Khandwala Sec, Elgi Equipments, Apar Industries, Electrostl Cast and Precision Wires hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while McDowell Hold, Zydus Wellness, IGL, Spandana Sphoorty and Dilip Buildcon hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
