Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.39% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index traded negative around 11:16AM(IST)on Wednesday in a weak market.

Bandhan Bank(up 1.68 per cent), RBLBANK(up 1.24 per cent), Federal Bank(up 0.41 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 0.38 per cent) and IDFCBANK(up 0.21 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.55 per cent), ICICI Bank(down 0.95 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 0.57 per cent), State Bank of India(down 0.15 per cent) and Axis Bank(down 0.06 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Bank index was down 0.39 per cent at 38060.25 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 143.1 points at 17969.95, while the BSE Sensex was down 514.44 points at 60240.42.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 were trading in the green, while 37 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Alok Industries, JP Power and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Khandwala Sec, Macpower CNC Machine, Tata Elxsi, Elgi Equipments and Apar Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while McDowell Hold, IGL, Spandana Sphoorty, Mas Fin Services and Zydus Wellness hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
