UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will contest next month's Assembly election from the Gorakhpur (Urban constituency, the BJP said Saturday afternoon, as it released its first list of candidates.
Voting for the Gorakhpur (Urban) seat will be on March 3 - the sixth and penultimate phase. 

Meanwhile, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad said Saturday that his political outfit - the Azad Samaj Party - would not ally with the Samajwadi Party for next month's Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.
Samajwadi chief Akhilesh Yadav "does not want the support of Dalits", Mr Azad told reporters.

In Punjab, former Punjab minister Joginder Singh Mann joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today, a day after snapping his 50-year-old ties with the Congress.

Punjab Elections: Former Congress Minister Joginder Singh Mann Joins AAP

Ahead of the Assembly elections, former Punjab minister Joginder Singh Mann joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today, a day after snapping his 50-year-old ties with the Congress. 2,500 Named For Covid Norms Violation After Huge Crowd At Samajwadi Office

The Uttar Pradesh police have registered a complaint against 2,500 unknown people, on direction from the Election Commission, for violating Covid norms after a massive crowd had gathered in front of the Samajwadi Party office for the joining-in function of two rebel ministers and several MLAs. Video clips showed hundreds of party workers gathered at the SP office and a majority of them not wearing masks or following social distancing. (Read full story here)

Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022: Congress Fields Actor-Model Archana Gautam From Hastinapur In UP Polls
The Congress has fielded actor and beauty pageant winner Archana Gautam from Hastinapur constituency in the Meerut district to contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Ms Gautam got a ticket within two months of joining the party. She had joined Congress in November 2021.

On Thursday, the party rolled out its first list of 125 candidates for the assembly elections which are due to be held in seven phases in Uttar Pradesh from February 10 and the list includes 50 women candidates.
