Netflix Subscription Plans Become Costlier In Some Countries

Netflix has increased the cost of subscription plans in some countries. The OTT platform has increased the rates in the United States and Canada. Surprisingly, Netflix recently slashed the subscription charges in India. 

The Basic plan earlier cost $9.99 in the United States, now it is increased by $1. The Standard plan has been increased from $14 to $15.50. Similarly, the 4K plan also saw a hike of $2 increase and now costs $20 per month.

In Canada, The standard plan has been increased to C$16.49 from C$14.99. The premium plan has been increased from C$2 to C$20.99. Although Netflix's basic plan remains unchanged at C$9.99.

“We’re updating our prices so that we can continue to offer a wide variety of quality entertainment options,” a Netflix spokesperson told Reuters. “As always we offer a range of plans so members can pick a price that works for their budget.”

For new customers, the price increase in Netflix plans for US and Canadian users became effective immediately. In the case of existing customers, they will see new prices in their upcoming monthly bills.

Netflix Recently Reduced Indian Prices

The price of the Netflix mobile plan has been reduced from Rs 199 to Rs 149 in India. The mobile plan lets users stream videos on phones and tablets at 480p.

The Basic plan allows users to stream videos on one mobile, tab, computer, and TV at a time. Currently, its subscription charge is Rs 199. This plan was earlier offered at Rs 499.

The standard subscription plan that lets users stream HD videos is now priced at Rs 499 in India. The plan lets users stream videos on two different devices at the same time. The standard plan was earlier priced at Rs 649.

Talking about the premium plan, the price of this plan was Rs 799 earlier, which is now reduced to Rs 649. The premium plan lets users browse videos in 4K+HDR. Premium plan users can stream on up to four different devices at the same time.
