The Kerala actress assault case has been keeping the entire nation on tenterhooks ever since it took place in February 2017. The incident was back in the spotlight after the actress broke her silence on the incident in an Instagram post on January 10. Her post witnessed unprecedented solidarity from actors and celebrities from across the country.
Superstars Mohanlal, Mamooty and prominent film-makers and technicians from the Malayalam industry registered their support by sharing the post. In February 2017, some of these actors and personalities distanced themselves from the incident after actor Dileep's name surfaced in the case. After the incident, several members of the film industry supported Dileep openly further isolating the actress and all those who stood by her.

Feb 17, 2017: The actress was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in a moving car near Kochi by five unidentified men. The perpetrators recorded the assault and the actress was dropped at noted Malayalam actor-director Lal's residence after two hours. Pulsar Suni, who worked as a driver for several celebrities, was identified as the assaulter by the actress. An FIR was filed by the actress on the same day.
Feb 19, 2017: The Kerala Police arrested three of the seven accused in the assault case. The prime accused, Pulsar
Suni who is a known history-sheeter, was still at large.
Feb 23, 2017: Almost a week after the incident, prime accused Pulsar Suni and other accused Vijesh surrender before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate.
Feb 22, 2017: A lawyer submits a mobile phone and memory card that contained the visuals of the assault before the Angamaly magistrate.
Feb 23, 2017: Pulsar Suni and another accused, Vijeesh surrender before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate. After the arrest of Suni, police begin investigating possible conspiracy in the case.
Feb 26, 2017: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan draws flak from the opposition for his comments suggesting that there was no conspiracy in the case. The actress had alleged conspiracy in her statement earlier.
Apr 18, 2017: First chargesheet in the case filed by police names Pulsar Suni and six others as accused.
May 18, 2017: The actress's friends and colleagues from the Women in Cinema Collective. The body meets CM Pinarayi Vijayan seeking swift action in the case.
Jun 23, 2017: A major twist after Jinson a fellow inmate of Pulsar Suni at Kakkanad sub-jail informs the police that Suni had shared some details about the crime.
Jun 24, 2017: Pulsar Suni's letter allegedly written to Dileep surfaces. Dileep, considered to be a superstar, has worked with the actress in several movies. He was married to the actresses close friend Manju Warrier.
Jun 24, 2017: Dileep and his close friend Nadirsha claim that they received a call from a person who identified as Pulsar Suni's prison mate. The duo told a TV channel that the caller had demanded Rs 1.5 crore to not reveal Dileep's name in the case.
Jun 26, 2017: Dileep blames the survivor of the sexual assault for the incident in an interview with Reporter, a Malayalam TV channel. The actor went on to insinuate that the actress had been friends with Pulsar Suni.
Jun 28, 2017: An investigating team headed by ADGP B Sandhya and Aluva Rural SP AV George, grill Dileep and Nadirsha for 13 hours.
Jul 10, 2017: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrests actor Dileep and he is kept in the Aluva sub-jail. The motive behind the crime is revenge since the survivor was among Dileep's former wife Manju Warrier's friends who informed her about his alleged relationship with actress Kavya Madhavan. Dileep and Kavya later got married in 2016 after his divorce from Warrier.
Jul 11, 2017: Dileep is expelled from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) after outrage among people.
