Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav welcomes former UP Minister Dharam Singh Sainin into the party, in Lucknow.
It was a third continuous day of shock for the Uttar Pradesh government and the Bhartiya Janata Party as a third minister, Dharam Singh Saini, belonging to the backward caste, resigned from the ministry while two MLAs also belonging to the backward caste resigned from the primary membership of the party citing neglect and suppression of backwards and Dalits under BJP government.

While exiting MLAs forewarned reporters that many more such resignations will continue to take place every day in the coming days, BJP in UP went into overdrive trying to salvage the situation by highlighting the work done by BJP for backwards. Eight MLAs including three ministers have resigned from the party and ministry in three days. Seven of these belong to the backward castes. Swami Prasad Maurya, who had first put in his resignation, along with all his supporting MLAs who quit, will formally join the SP on Friday.
