Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Friday at 10:34AM

K.P.I. Global Infras(up 4.99%), PIGL(up 4.63%), RTNPOWER(up 4.55%), Suzlon Energy(up 3.86%), DPSC(up 3.32%), Gujarat Industries Power(up 3.06%), Reliance Power(up 2.46%), Jyoti Structures(up 2.36%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 2.10%) and Alstom T&D India(up 1.64%) were among the top gainers.

Indowind Energy(down 4.99%), Energy Development Company(down 4.97%), Orient Green Power Company(down 4.90%), Karma Energy(down 3.23%), Adani Transmissions(down 2.76%), NLC India(down 1.72%), NHPC(down 0.95%), KEC International(down 0.88%), ADANIGREEN(down 0.59%) and Hitachi Energy India(down 0.50%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 79.5 points down at 18178.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 308.23 points at 60927.07 at around 10:34AM.

TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 4.96%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 1.9%), UltraTech Cement(up 0.91%), Larsen & Toubro(up 0.86%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 0.75%), SBI Life(up 0.58%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 0.51%), NTPC(up 0.48%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.43%) and HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 0.4%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Axis Bank(down 3.11%), HCL Technologies(down 2.63%), Asian Paints(down 2.58%), UPL Ltd(down 1.99%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 1.52%), HDFC(down 1.5%), Wipro(down 1.27%), IndusInd Bank(down 1.2%), Hindustan Unilever(down 1.17%) and ICICI Bank(down 1.09%) were trading in the red.
