
OVER 1,100 cops from three police jurisdictions in Pune District — Pune City, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune Rural — have received their booster shots of Covid-19 vaccine as part of the immunisation drive to administer precautionary doses to healthcare and frontline workers across the country.
The drive kicked off in Pune on January 11.
As on Wednesday evening, the number of police personnel who received their booster shots was 486 in Pune City Police.
From January 1 till Wednesday evening, the Pune city police, which has a total strength of around 7,600 personnel, has reported 361 cases of Covid-19 positive cases. Of these, three have required hospitalisation.
As many as 415 cops were given booster doses in Pimpri-Chinchwad police, which has a total strength of around 2,700 police personnel. Since January 1, Pimpri-Chinchwad police has reported 65 Covid positive cases of which five required hospitalisation.
In the first two days of the booster drive, 220 police personnel and officers in Pune Rural police, which has a total strength of 2,500, were administered the shots.
