Bikaner-Guwahati Express Accident Live Updates: At least three person died and around 20 were injured including when the Bikaner-Guwahati Express train derailed near Dohomoni area in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district today. Of those injured, several are critical. The visuals from the site showed locals and police carrying out rescue works. Photos from the site show a number of coaches lying sideways down the elevated tracks. Guneet Kaur, Chief PRO, North-East Frontier Railway, today said that an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs will be given to the kins of deceased, Rs one lakh will be given to those severely injured and Rs 25,000 for those with minor injuries. Kaur said that rescue operations have been completed. The Indian Railways has announced a high-level probe into the matter while Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that he will visit the site tomorrow. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee also said that she is monitoring the situation closely.
“Guwahati-Bikaner Express 15633 (up) derailed at about 5 pm this evening. 12 coaches have been affected. DRM and ADRM have rushed to the site along with accident relief train and medical van.
