Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar who continues to be admitted at the ICU of Breach Candy Hospital is recovering well, according to her family. The singer was rushed to the hospital on Saturday after she tested positive for Covid-19. The 92-year-old is also undergoing treatment for pneumonia.

Lata’s sister Asha Bhosle told Etimes that the singer was getting better. "They aren't allowing anybody. I went once but wasn't allowed inside the compound itself. There are severe restrictions and protocols being followed in view of the ongoing pandemic," Asha told Etimes.

“Didi is improving; she is better than before," Asha asserted adding that their sister Usha Mangeshkar has been in touch with Lata and gets her health updates on video calls.

Meanwhile, the singer’s niece Rachana Shah too told the media that the singer was recovering well. "She is doing well and we are happy about it. Everyone's prayers have worked. Kindly, keep our privacy in mind," said Shah.

On Tuesday, it was reported that the veteran singer was admitted to the ICU as a precautionary method considering her age.

Lata Mangeshkar also known as the nightingale of India began her career at the age of 13 in 1942. She has over 30,000 songs in numerous languages to her credit. In a career spanning over seven decades, Lata Mangeshkar has let her voice for evergreen songs like ‘Ajeeb Dastaan hai ye’, ‘Pyar kiya to darna kya’, ‘Tere liye’, etc.

She has been conferred Padma Bhushan (1969), Padma Vibhushan (1999), Dada Saheb Phalke Award (1989), Maharashtra Bhushan Award (1997), NTR National Award (1999), and Bharat Ratna (2001).
