India Reports 1,68,063 New Cases, Omicron Tally Reaches 4,461

A total of 69,959 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients is now at 3,45,70,131

Amid the third wave in the entire country, India reported a total of 1,68,063 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Ministry Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday. 

The ministry informed that India's active caseload presently is at 8,21,446. Active cases constitute 2.29 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

Talking about Omicron, India recorded more than 400 cases variant in the last 24 hours which took the total tally to 4,461. 

With the administration of over 92,07,700 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 152.89 crore (1,52,89,70,294)  through 1,63,81,175 sessions, informed the ministry.  

A total of 69,959 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients is now at 3,45,70,131. India’s recovery rate stands at 96.36 per cent. 

"The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 15,79,928 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 69.31 crore (69,31,55,280) cumulative tests," ministry said in a statement. 

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate in the country currently is at 8.85 per cent and the daily positivity rate is at 10.64 per cent.
