Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Tuesday at 10:50AM

Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 7.03%), RTNPOWER(up 4.94%), Suzlon Energy(up 4.93%), Jyoti Structures(up 4.93%), Orient Green Power Company(up 4.84%), PIGL(up 4.77%), NLC India(up 4.45%), K.P.I. Global Infras(up 3.61%), CESC(up 2.28%) and Torrent Power(up 2.12%) were among the top gainers.

Indowind Energy(down 4.92%), Energy Development Company(down 4.90%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 3.78%), Karma Energy(down 3.74%), JSW Energy(down 1.39%), DPSC(down 1.06%), NHPC(down 0.79%), KEC International(down 0.63%), GE Power India Limited(down 0.62%) and Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 0.57%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 29.3 points up at 18032.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 137.06 points at 60532.69 at around 10:50AM.

HCL Technologies(up 2.95%), HDFC(up 2.43%), Reliance Industries(up 1.21%), NTPC(up 1.21%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.15%), Divis Laboratories(up 1.08%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.91%), Infosys(up 0.71%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.66%) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.58%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, JSW Steel(down 2.29%), Tata Steel(down 1.56%), Bajaj Finance(down 1.51%), Asian Paints(down 1.06%), Bharti Airtel(down 0.96%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 0.93%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 0.81%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.8%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 0.73%) and ICICI Bank(down 0.69%) were trading in the red.
