The National Commission for Women has also demanded action against the actor. Earlier this week, Saina tweeted, “No nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own PM gets compromised. I condemn, in the strongest words possible, the cowardly attack on PM Modi by anarchists.” She expressed her concerns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent security breach. In response to it, Siddharth tweeted, “Subtle cock champion of the world. Thank God we have protectors of India (sic).”
The comment didn’t go down well with the Olympic bronze medallist and her fans. The NCW asked Twitter India to “immediately” block the actor’s account. To his defence, Siddharth said, “Nothing disrespectful was intended, said or insinuated.”
Amid the controversy, Saina Nehwal’s husband and shuttler Parupalli Kashyap and father Harvir Singh Nehwal have condemned the actor.
