PM Modi cancels visit to Punjab's Ferozepur amid 'major lapse in security'
Live news updates: The Supreme Court said on Monday it will set up an independent committee to probe the security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Punjab last week. The committee will be headed by a former judge of the top court, news reports said.

India reported 179,723 new cases of Covid-19 infections on Monday, the most since late May, health ministry data showed, taking the total to 35.71 million. Deaths rose by 146 to 483,936.

India has 4,033 cases of the variant of the virus, said the ministry.
 
Amazon has filed fresh legal challenges in its long-running dispute with retailer Future Group after India’s antitrust agency suspended a 2019 deal between the two sides, leading to a halt in their arbitration. Amazon has challenged the Competition Commission of India order on at least five grounds.

IndiGo is cancelling 20 per cent flights because of the surge in Covid-19 cases driven by the variant, India’s largest carrier, said on Sunday it. Other airlines are cancelling flights too as states tighten restrictions,
