Vibrant Gujarat Summit postponed as many leaders, officials turn positive

On Thursday, a statement issued by the government said that the CM, after reviewing the situation, has decided to postpone the event for the time being keeping in mind the greater good of the people.
Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, the mega biennial flagship event of Gujarat government has been postponed, the state government announced in the wake of a surge in Covid-19 cases after chief minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed the situation on Thursday.

The mega event was all set to start from Monday, with the participation of 26 countries. A drone show was also planned, involving 2,000 drones during the three-day jamboree.

However, on Wednesday, five senior bureaucrats, a minister of state as well as a BJP legislator tested positive.

On Thursday, a statement issued by the government said that the CM, after reviewing the situation, has decided to postpone the event for the time being keeping in mind the greater good of the people.

The CM said that the tenth Vibrant Gujarat Summit was organised by the state government to set higher benchmarks for the global business and industry and that heads, high officials and industry leaders of several countries had shown interest in participating in the event. He thanked the partner countries and the delegates who were scheduled to attend the event and hoped that they would retain similar enthusiasm in future as well.
