Bharat Forge(up 1.24 per cent), Bosch(up 0.97 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 0.9 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 0.43 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(up 0.24 per cent) were among the top gainers.
TIINDIA(down 4.63 per cent), Tata Motors(down 1.17 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.87 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 0.42 per cent) and Exide Industries(down 0.41 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.3 per cent at 11223.35 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 207.7 points at 17717.55, while the BSE Sensex was down 738.98 points at 59484.17.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 were trading in the green, while 43 were in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, JP Power, YES Bank and NALCO were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of GRP Ltd, BGR Energy, Panama Petro, Lagnam Spintex and Dwarikesh Sugar hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while McDowell Hold, PayTM, Mas Fin Services and Lumax Ind hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
