Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Thursday at 10:34AM

K.P.I. Global Infras(up 5.00%), RTNPOWER(up 4.96%), Orient Green Power Company(up 4.91%), Jyoti Structures(up 4.83%), Suzlon Energy(up 4.64%), CESC(up 3.24%), NHPC(up 2.38%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 2.11%), DPSC(up 1.16%) and Alstom T&D India(up 1.06%) were among the top gainers.

Energy Development Company(down 4.95%), Karma Energy(down 4.94%), Indowind Energy(down 4.91%), Adani Transmissions(down 2.59%), NTPC(down 1.82%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.22%), GE Power India Limited(down 1.16%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 1.13%), ADANIGREEN(down 1.11%) and Voltamp Transformers(down 0.93%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 230.5 points down at 17694.75, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 816.92 points at 59406.23 at around 10:34AM.

UPL Ltd(up 2.05%), Hindalco Industries(up 1.54%), Maruti Suzuki(up 0.9%), Bajaj Auto(up 0.66%), Bharti Airtel(up 0.51%) and SBI Life(up 0.34%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 2.93%), HDFC(down 2.12%), Reliance Industries(down 1.93%), HDFC Bank(down 1.87%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.86%), Infosys(down 1.83%), HCL Technologies(down 1.82%), NTPC(down 1.82%), JSW Steel(down 1.8%) and Tech Mahindra(down 1.77%) were trading in the red.
