“We have met with All India Consumer Products Distribution Federation and shared with them our process of engagement with distributors,” a spokesperson for Colgate-Palmolive said. “The federation was supportive of our efforts,” the person added.

The distributors, which had accused large fast moving consumer goods companies of selling their products at lower prices to wholesalers such as Reliance JioMart, Metro Cash & Carry and business-to-business (B2B) platform Udaan, had said on Tuesday that they would intensify the protest against Colgate-Palmolive.

All other companies the distributors had raised concerns about including Nestle and Marico, have held mutual talks and resolutions are underway, with the exception of the oral care products maker.

“We have held, and will continue to hold, meetings with them (distributors) to discuss and resolve their concerns,” the Colgate-Palmolive spokesperson said, adding that the company was “committed" to addressing distributors’ concerns.

Some distributors said they would stop supplying products of the oral care maker’s Max Fresh toothpaste brand in Maharashtra in phases from January 1, followed by Colgate Ved Shakti “if the situation remains the same.”
