Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday reached Punjab’s Hussainiwala to pay his respects at the National Martyrs Memorial. He will address a rally in Ferozepur where he will be laying foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 42,750 crore. These projects include Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, PGI Satellite Centre at Ferozepur and two new medical colleges at Kapurthala  and Hoshiarpur, the PMO said in a statement.

On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath termed the Samajwadi Party as the “followers of Kansa”, not Lord Krishna and said that they should fear the latter for giving birth to unscrupulous elements like ‘Kans’ and for burning the state in the fire of hatred.

No security lapse, PM’s road plans made at last minute: Charanjit Singh Channi

Reacting to the incident in a TV interview on a Punjabi channel, Punjab CM Charanjit Channi says, “No security lapse. PM’s road plans were made at the last minute. He was supposed to go by helicopter. I was up late at night overseeing security arrangements for his rally. 70,000 chairs were put up for rally but only 700 people turned up.”

Channi refused to get on phone: JP Nadda on cancellation of PM rally

The state police was instructed to prevent people from attending the rally. Large number of buses were stranded because of the high-handedness of the police & connivance with protestors.

To make matters worse, CM Channi refused to get on the phone to either address the matter or solve it. The tactics used by the Congress government in Punjab would pain any one who believes in democratic principles.

Farmers block three approach roads to Modi’s rally for over 12 hours

Hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first rally in Punjab after the repeal of farm laws, three approach roads leading to the venue in Ferozepur were blocked for more than 12 hours by members of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangrash Committee (KMSC). The roads were partially cleared for traffic movement by 9.30 am on Wednesday after farmers received assurances that PM Modi would address them on January 15.
