Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Monday at 11:10AM

Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 7.26%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 6.94%), GE Power India Limited(up 5.07%), Indowind Energy(up 4.98%), Energy Development Company(up 4.95%), Karma Energy(up 4.94%), Suzlon Energy(up 4.90%), Orient Green Power Company(up 4.90%), PIGL(up 4.90%) and Reliance Power(up 4.78%) were among the top gainers.

NTL(down 4.11%), Jyoti Structures(down 1.42%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 1.11%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(down 0.48%), KEC International(down 0.04%) and Torrent Power(down 0.02%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 159.05 points up at 17513.1, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 547.52 points at 58801.34 at around 11:10AM.

Eicher Motors(up 4.15%), Coal India(up 3.97%), Tata Motors(up 2.76%), Tata Consultancy(up 2.07%), Bajaj Finserv(up 1.97%), Axis Bank(up 1.67%), ICICI Bank(up 1.46%), Larsen & Toubro(up 1.42%), Bajaj Finance(up 1.36%) and HDFC Bank(up 1.32%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Cipla(down 1.55%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 0.78%), Divis Laboratories(down 0.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.59%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.56%), Titan Company Ltd(down 0.45%), Hindalco Industries(down 0.18%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.11%) and Shree Cement(down 0.03%) were trading in the red.
