NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of Strides Pharma Science(up 2.06 per cent), Natco Pharma(up 1.81 per cent), Pfizer(up 0.9 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 0.76 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories(up 0.47 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Laurus(down 1.88 per cent), Cipla(down 1.44 per cent), Cadila Healthcare(down 1.22 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 1.1 per cent) and Abbott India(down 1.03 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.47 per cent down at 14156.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 271.65 points at 17625.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 929.4 points at 59183.22.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 ended in the green, while 6 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, RBL Bank, GMR Infra and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Arihant Capital, T T Ltd, ARSS Infra, Shree Rama Multi and Oriental Hotels hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Felix Industries, Vivo Collaboration Solutions Ltd., A and M Jumbo Bags L, Shri Ram Switchgears and HEC Infra Projects hit their fresh 52-week lows.
