Shares of TIINDIA(up 7.62 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 4.9 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 4.29 per cent), Tata Motors(up 3.15 per cent) and Bharat Forge(up 1.87 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.88 per cent) and Bosch(down 0.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.62 per cent up at 11114.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 271.65 points at 17625.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 929.4 points at 59183.22.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 ended in the green, while 6 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, RBL Bank, GMR Infra and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Arihant Capital, T T Ltd, ARSS Infra, Shree Rama Multi and Oriental Hotels hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Felix Industries, Vivo Collaboration Solutions Ltd., A and M Jumbo Bags L, Shri Ram Switchgears and HEC Infra Projects hit their fresh 52-week lows.
