The NSE Nifty index ended the session 9.65 points down at 17203.95, while BSE Sensex fell 12.17 points to 57794.32.
In the Nifty index, NTPC Ltd.(up 3.05 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.95 per cent), Cipla Ltd.(up 1.84 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.77 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(up 1.48 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
On the other hand, Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.89 per cent), Reliance Industries Ltd.(down 1.81 per cent), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 1.54 per cent), UPL Ltd.(down 1.54 per cent) and Tata Steel Ltd.(down 1.37 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
