Shares of Alkem Laboratories(up 3.02 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 2.67 per cent), Cadila Healthcare(up 2.17 per cent), Cipla(up 1.84 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.48 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Laurus(down 1.88 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 0.73 per cent), Granules India(down 0.69 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 0.63 per cent) and Natco Pharma(down 0.59 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.44 per cent up at 14135.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 9.65 points at 17203.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 12.17 points at 57794.32.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, RBL Bank, YES Bank, PNB and Power Grid were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of MSP Steel, Apollo Micro Systems, Pasupati Acrylon, Cybertech Sys and Kingfa Science Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while RBL Bank, Jet Freight Logistic, Lumax Ind, Dynamic Services & Security Ltd. and Mas Fin Services hit their fresh 52-week lows.
