MMI complex can be tourist site: Biswajit

Imphal, December 27 2021: Works minister Thongam Biswajit Singh has said that the complex of Manipur Mountaineering Institute (MMI) at Lamdan can be developed as a tourist destination site on Public-Private-Partnership model.
Biswajit stated this while addressing the gathering at the 36th foundation day of MMI cum Graduation Ceremony of 87th Adventure Course, 2021 organised by MMI at Lamdan.
Attending as chief guest of the event, Biswajit said adventure courses will help tremendously in instilling courage, will power, patience and hard work among the youth.
He said these adventure courses and training will help youngsters in developing their own personalities.
Biswajit also assured of all possible assistance in the development of the complex and the institute.
He appreciated the institute for organising such courses and said that the nation will become strong only when youth of the nation are morally, mentally and physically strong.
Asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focus is on the youth as the youth can play a significant role in the society, Biswajit said that 60-65 percent of India's population comprises youth.
He said that sports and related activities should be encouraged as involvement in such activities keep the youth away from drugs.
Further stressing on the importance of every section of the society in the development of the society, the minister said that society is made up of individuals and each one of us have our own responsibilities.
People of the nation should laud Prime Minister Narendra Modi's effort in fighting the Covid pandemic as it due to his efforts and vaccination programme that people are now able to converge and organise social gathering, he added.
As part of the function, minister Biswajit led the people in paying floral tributes to the Mountaineer Tenzing Norgay.
Certificates and prizes were also distributed to trainees of the 87th adventure course.
