NEW DELHI: India has reported 7,189 new
cases of
Covid-19 and 387
deaths in the last 24 hours, the
Union health ministry said on Saturday. India's
Omicron tally currently stands at 415, as per the government.
Maharashtra has reported 108 Omicron cases, the highest in India, followed by Delhi recording 79 cases so far. The ministry also said 115 people have recovered from Omicron so far.
The active caseload in the country currently stands at 77,032, the lowest in 579 days. At 0.22%, active cases at present account for less than 1% of total cases, the lowest since March 2020.
The recovery rate now stands at 98.40%, the highest since March 2020.
Also 7,286 recoveries in the last 24 hours have pushed the total number of people, who have recuperated from the disease so far, to 3,42,23,263, the ministry said.
The daily positivity rate, at 0.65%, has been less than 2% for the last 82 days. At 0.60%, the weekly positivity rate has remained below 1% for the last 41 days.
As many as 67.10 crore tests for Covid detection have been conducted in India so far, the government said.
The total number of vaccine doses administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive is 141.01 crore, as per Saturday's government bulletin.
