Abohar, December 24
Health services came to a standstill at the Civil Hospital as the medical institute’s staff also went on a strike due to a cut in their allowances. As a result, patients remained a harried lot. Even employees of the National Health Mission and ASHA workers have been agitating against the non-fulfillment of their demands.
Today patients’ slips were not issued at OPD. Services in maternity ward, dialysis, X-ray, laboratory, blood bank and birth and death certificates also got paralysed. Covid-19 testing and vaccination drive also got affected.
Dr Gur Kirpal, in charge, Corona sampling, said, “Despite continuing our services during the pandemic, the department has been ignoring us. Sampling will not be done till our demands are met.” Another employee, Lakshmi Rani, said unless the government fulfilled their demands, no vaccination would be administered. — OC
