SVEEP awareness campaign held

Imphal, December 23 2021: Imphal East office of district election officer (DEO) organised a marathon on the theme 'Run for Democracy' as a part of district's SVEEP Campaign on Thursday with the aim of mobilising the voters and sensitising them on the rights and importance of voting.
The marathon was flagged off from the DC Office Complex, Porompat by the DEO/DC Khumanthem Diana Devi.
More than 100 electors from different parts of Imphal East district participated in the marathon along with SP, additional SP, SDPO and other police officials of the district.
First position amongst the male runners was won by Khundom Romajit Singh, son of Kh Loken Singh of Khundrakpam Awang Leikai under Khundrakpam AC; second by Konthoujam Somorjit Singh, son of K Brojen Singh, Yairipok Yambem under Andro AC and third position by Yangoijam Abhinash, son of Y Bishambhor of Pangei Awang Leikai under Khundrakpam AC.
Amongst female runners, the first position was won by Pebam Thoibi Devi, daughter of (L) P Ibochou Singh of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal under Yaiskul AC; second position by.Irom Omita Devi, wife of Wangkheimayum Ronald Singh of Pangei Yangdong under Khundrakpam AC and third position by Takhellambam Rebika Leima, wife of Takhellambam Bobo Meitei of Pangei Yangdong under Khundrakpam AC.
While consolation prize winners are Khangembam Pilot Singh of Khurai Thangjam Leikai, Wangkhem Thoisana Singh of Waikhom Leikai, N Gobin Singh of Yourabung Khunou, Khumbongmayum Lanchenba Meetei of Top Moirangkampu Mayai Leikai, Salam Suresh Singh of Andro Kharam Leikai, Khangembam Lamnganba of Khundrakpam Makha Leikai and police officer Huidrom Dhanabir Singh of Huidrom Mayai Leikai.
The winners of the marathon were awarded cash prizes and certificates at the end of the programme.
Meanwhile, a SVEEP Awareness Campaign cum EVM-VVPAT Demonstration and t-shirt distribution was held during the semi-final of the 9-A side Football Tournament being organised jointly by Sora Makha Development Club and Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thoubal as part of Block Level Sports Meet at Sora Makha Manggihei Makhong playground on Thursday.
As a part of the programme, Kakching ERO/SDO Kherdananda Potsangbam and NYK Thoubal DYO & SVEEP nodal officer Michael Mate gave away 'I am Ready' t-shirts to first time voters as well as officials of the organising committee.
Officials of Electoral Registration Office, Kakching also demonstrated the correct use of EVM-VVPAT to the public present.
