41 percent of State's eligible population vaccinated with second dose

Imphal, December 23 2021: The state on Thursday reported one death case and 16 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 1346 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 1.19 per cent against 0.52 per cent recorded on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, government reports said that 56.22 per cent of the state's total eligible population has been vaccinated with first dose of Covid vaccine and 41.41 per cent with second dose.
Some months back, Jiribam district was reported to have surpassed 100 per cent vaccination coverage but the coverage has been reduced to 71.25 per cent in the latest report.
However, no explanation was provided regarding the reduction in coverage percentage in the particular district.
In terms of first dose vaccination coverage, Kakching district is at the top with 72.99 per cent coverage followed by Imphal West (72.81 per cent) and Jiribam while Kangpokpi records the lowest coverage of only 19.38 per cent.
However, in terms of second dose vaccination, Jiribam tops with 57.93 per cent coverage followed by Imphal West (56.54 per cent) and Kakching (53.81 per cent) while Kangpokpi records the lowest coverage of only 12.88 per cent.
The lone death case reported on Thursday was a resident of Thoubal district and the tally of fatalities has reached 1999 .
The victim had received second dose vaccine.
So far, 137 vaccinated people have died of Covid-19 and 23 of them had received second dose.
The active caseload rose to 192 out of which 31 (16.15 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availability in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only three reported fresh Covid cases on Thursday.
So far, the state has recorded 96,285 positive cases and 1625 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 480 new positive cases and 22 fatalities out of which 99 new cases and 6 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 16 fresh positive cases (7 male & 9 female) are from among the general population and their samples were confirmed at RIMS (1), JNIMS (1) and other testing centres (14).The positive cases are from Imphal East (6), Imphal West (6) and Senapati (4) .
In the last 24 hours, 11 patients were discharged from home isolation (3), RIMS (5), JNIMS (2) and CCCs (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,685 (general population - 1,21,251 and CAPF personnel - 4,434) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,23,494 (general population - 1,19,066 and CAPF personnel - 4,428) and number of active cases is 192 (general population - 191 and CAPF personnel - 1) .
The recovery rate is 98.26 per cent.
A total of 257 D-type and 34 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 5144 vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 13,16,220 including 9,69,355 fully vaccinated people.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,109), Imphal East (27,927), Thoubal (9490), Churachandpur (10,191), Kangpokpi (2793), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9234), Senapati (2249), Ukhrul (2998), Kakching (6450), Chandel (2366), Noney (1076), Tengnoupal (1077), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (955) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (669), Imphal East (479), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (194), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44), Kakching (115), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,504 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,833 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,68,061 tests per million population against the national average of 4,77,611 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1346 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 1.19 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.65 per cent.
