The Kerala State Lottery Department will conduct a Xmas-New Year bumper lottery on the occasion of the festive season. Last month, the state Finance Minister KN Balagopal had released the details of the Xmas-New Year bumper lottery.
The ticket of the lottery is priced at Rs 300 and the first prize winners can bag a whopping amount of Rs 300. As per reports, the State Lottery Department has already printed 24 lakh tickets for the Xmas-New Year lottery this year. The draw of the same will be conducted on January 16.

Established in 1967, Kerala State Lottery offers a variety of weekly lotteries that are conducted every day. It is said that the idea of the State Lottery was initiated by then Finance Minister of Kerala, late PK Kunju Sahib. The main aim of these weekly lotteries is to provide a stable income source for the financially weaker sections of the state. It is also a major source of non-tax revenue for the state.

The Kerala Lottery Department also organises four festival bumper lotteries on the occasion of Onam, Vishu, Christmas, and Pooja or Dussehra. Weekly lotteries conducted by the state are WinWin on Mondays, Sthree Sakthi on Tuesdays, Akshaya on Wednesdays, Karunya Plus on Thursdays, Nirmal on Fridays, Karunya on Saturdays, and Pournami on Sundays.
