HYDERABAD: Three peddlers, including a police constable, were
arrested and police seized Rs 20 lakh worth hashish oil from their possession at Hayathnagar on Wednesday.
Rachakonda Special Operations Team (SOT) sleuths arrested Sk Mujeeb Pasha, 31, an Armed Reserve police constable working with Khammam district special police party, his associates — Md Afroz, 23, of Mustafa Nagar in Khammam and Ch Upender Rao, 23, an auto driver from Nayakulagudem village in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.
Another gang member, G Venkatesh, 25, a businessman from Nayakulagudem village, went absconding. The sleuths of SOT seized five litres of hashish oil, a car, three cell phones and Rs 3,000 cash, all worth Rs 20 lakh.
On interrogation, Afroz said that he was a relative of constable Mujeeb and they came in contact with ganja peddlers, Upender Rao and Venkatesh, who have been sourcing the contraband from the Agency areas of Andhra Pradesh.
Upender and Venkatesh procured hashish oil from a supplier in Donkarai village of Chintur mandal in East Godavari and handed it over to Afroz and Mujeeb in Khammam on Tuesday. “They agreed to purchase contraband for Rs 1 lakh a litre and paid Rs 1.5 lakh as advance.They wanted to sell contraband in Hyderabad for Rs 3 lakh a litre,” SOT police said.
