Former Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn will join a star-studded Sunrisers Hyderabad coaching staff at next year's Indian Premier League (IPL) edition.
On Thursday, the Sunrisers Hyderabad announced their new team management ahead of the 2022 season, with several experienced veterans selected.
These numerous changes came after the Sunrisers finished bottom of the IPL standings - registering three wins this season - after making the playoffs in the past five IPL editions.
Steyn, who has played with the Hyderabad franchise from 2011–2015, will make his coaching debut at next year's 15th edition of the IPL.
In August, Steyn retired from all forms of cricket and also closed the curtain on his IPL career - playing in 95 games and taking 97 wickets with a 25.85 average.
Shortly after calling time on his illustrious career, Steyn turned to commentating at this year's rescheduled T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
The 38-year-old South African has been tasked with Hyderabad's pace bowling coach with Sri Lanka legend Muttiah Muralitharan in charge of the spin department.
Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody has returned to his role as head coach - replacing Trevor Bayliss - with fellow countryman Simon Katich serving as the assistant coach.
Meanwhile, West Indian all-time great Brian Lara will serve as the Sunrisers new batting coach and strategy advisor.
The IPL 2022 auction will commence on 12-13 February 2022 in Bengaluru.
