Chakpikarong village observes 'Centenary celebration'

Chandel, December 21 2021: The two day 'Centenary Celebration' of Chakpikarong village in Chandel district was concluded today.

The last day of the 100 years celebration of the establishment of Chakpikarong village which was organised under the theme 'Establishing the fountain of prosperity' was attended by Tengnoupal AC MLA D Korungthang; Rev DNG Nelson Pastor of Lambung Baptish Church and Tamengnlong autonomous district council caretaker chairman Namsingrei Panmei as presidium members.

D Korungthang stretched on the need to have a good relations amongst the villagers and with the neighbouring villagers in order to have peace and harmony in the region.

Speaking at the programme, Chapa Ts Berek, said Chakpikarong was established at the current location in 1920 after people residing in Khunbung Khunou came together looking for a suitable place for settlement.

He appealed the villagers to work together to make the village a peaceful village.

Traditional and cultural programmes of Anal community were presented as a part of the programme.

A souvenir was also released.
