The NSE Nifty index closed 156.65 points up at 16770.85, while BSE Sensex ended up 497.0 points at 56319.01.
On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 1.55 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.26 per cent), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 0.85 per cent), Cipla Ltd.(down 0.79 per cent) and State Bank of India(down 0.71 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
