South Africa recorded 8 515 new Covid-19 cases on Monday.
There were also 105 new Covid-19-related deaths, increasing the country's death toll to 90 453.
According to a statement by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), the number of new cases represents a 29.9% positivity rate.
Most of the new cases are from KwaZulu-Natal (29%), followed by Gauteng (22%). The Western Cape accounted for 19%, the Eastern Cape 8%, the North West 7%, the Free State 5%, Mpumalanga 4%, and Limpopo and the Northern Cape 3% each.
KwaZulu-Natal recorded 2 496 new cases on Monday, with Gauteng recording 1 890 and the Western Cape 1 625.
The NICD said that as of Monday, the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases in the country was 3 316 585.
Gauteng is the most impacted, with 1 107 343 confirmed cases in total, followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 575 932 cases and the Western Cape with 560 843.
There has been an increase of 328 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours. Currently, 8 435 people are in public and private hospitals.
South Africa conducted 20 719 331 Covid-19 tests, and 28 520 of those were carried out on Monday.
According to the Department of Health, 27 599 038 vaccines were administered. Of those, 71 847 were administered on Monday. To date, 15 389 994 adults are fully vaccinated. Among children aged 12 and older, 848 172 doses of the vaccine have been administered.
