Michael B. Jordan Explains Why He Strayed Away From Love Stories Until Now
Michael B. Jordan has never starring in a romantic movie until A Journal for Jordan, and he’s opening up about why that is.
The 34-year-old actor stars opposite Chante Adams in the film, which centers on the love story between First Sgt. Charles Monroe King and write Dana Canedy.

Speaking in an interview with Paula Ngon of :BLACKPRINT, Michael explained he was avoiding starring in a romantic story because he feared he couldn’t “tap into real emotions in that type of way that could really connect with the character.”
Michael added that the element of Charles writing a journal for his son, helped him connect to the role.
“I journal a lot,” he said. “So understanding the thought process behind leaving words and lessons in a journal for somebody to read later, I just love the idea of that. I connect with that personally.”
A Journal for Jordan, directed by Denzel Washington, is out in theaters on Christmas Day.
