The sexist comment by Congress MLA KR Ramesh Kumar in Karnataka Assembly on Thursday sparked controversy around the country.
The MLA came on a radaar after his remark in Karnartaka Assembly where he had said one should enjoy while a woman gets raped.
The outrage over Kumar’s rape remark spilled over to the Lok Sabha on Friday with Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani and the Samajwadi Party MP raising the issue.

Hitting out at Congress, Irani said Congress should first suspend their leader before talking about women empowerment and raising slogans like ‘Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon’ in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking on Karnataka Congress MLA KR Ramesh Kumar’s rape remark, the Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan said the Congress must deal with the MLA and take strict action against him.
Calling it shameful behaviour and shameful action, Bachchan said the Congress should have set an example for others by giving them strictest punishment so that nobody ever dares to speak like this.
If the country have people with such a mindset sitting in Assembly or Parliament, how could things change? Bachchan said.
However, the Karnataka Congress MLA and a former speaker of the house KR Ramesh Kumar has apologised for his controversial rape remarks in Karnataka Assembly on Thursday. He also shared his apology letter on all of his social media handles saying that the apology is from the bottom of his heart.
KR Ramesh even apologised in the Assembly on December 17, Friday after that Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri requested other members to not drag the matter further and he has apologised.
