Ashok Gehlot appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make booster shots available for the eligible population in wake of the emerging cases of Omicron.
JAIPUR: Twenty-six persons tested positive for Covid in the state on Thursday taking the overall tally to 9,55,173. The state's casualty count stood at 8,959.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make booster shots available for the eligible population in wake of the emerging cases of Omicron and said that he should chair a meeting of all chief ministers to take stock of the situation. Gehlot said, "In several countries, booster doses have been launched, vaccination for children has also started. I want to appeal to PM Modi to listen to experts' advice and decide on booster doses soon." In the past 24 hours, active cases have increased from 260 to 267 as 19 persons recovered while 26 new cases were added.
Out of the 26 new cases, 11 were reported from Jaipur, six from Jodhpur, three from Barmer, two cases each were reported from Udaipur, Bhilwara and Ajmer. Jaipur reported 11 cases from eight different areas- three cases were reported from Mansarovar, two from Ajmer road, one case each was reported from Bassi, Indira Gandhi Nagar, Jamdoli, Malviya Nagar, Pratap Nagar and address of one case was not found. "We are alert and conducting sampling in increased numbers and sending them for genome sequencing of cases," said Dr Narrottam Sharma, CMHO (Jaipur-I).
