About 25 hectares of veld were destroyed after a fire broke out on the mountain slopes above Slanghoek near Kommetjie in Cape Town on Thursday evening.
SANParks spokesperson Lauren Howard-Clayton said fire crews from the Table Mountain National Park, NCC Wildfires, the City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service and other wildfire services were called out to the scene in the Ocean View-Slangkop area just before 21:00.
"In the gusting winds, crews managed to make good progress with hand tools and managed to contain the fire just after 00:00 this morning (Friday)," she said.
Howard-Clayton said mop-up crews will be deployed to the site for further monitoring.
City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said all volunteer ground crews withdrew on Friday just before 05:00.
"Currently, the crew from Kommetjie Road is dealing with a few hotspots," he added.
The City's traffic spokesperson, Richard Coleman, said all roads affected by the fire were opened on Friday at 01:00, and traffic was flowing in the area.
