Gulf smartphone market declines nearly 5% in Q3

Shipments of mobile phones to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region declined by 4.5 percent quarter on quarter (QoQ) in Q3 to 5.59 million units, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). Smartphone shipments fell 4.1 percent QoQ to 5.04 million units and feature phone shipments by 7.6 percent to 550,000 units. The GCC smartphone market was worth USD 1.92 billion, up 2.5 percent QoQ, and the feature phone market worth USD 11.41 million, down 17.7 percent.
