Virat Kohli, the current Indian test skipper and former ODI skipper on Wednesday cleared all debates on the ODI captaincy row and said also confirmed his availability for the ODI series against South Africa.
He also denied the reports which claimed that there is a rift between him and Rohit Sharma. Virat said that there is nothing between him and Rohit that he is tired of saying this for the last two and half years.
On BCCI president Sourav Ganguly’s statement
When asked about that if BCCI president Sourav Ganguly requested him not to quit the T20 captaincy, Kohli replied that he was never told that he should not leave the T20 captaincy.
On BCCI sacking from ODI captaincy
On December 8, Virat Kohli was sacked from the ODI captaincy and Rohit Sharma was named the new captain to lead the Indian side in white-ball cricket. When asked about the sudden sacking from ODI captaincy, Kohli said that he himself got to know about this 90 minutes before announcing Rohit as the new captain. Kohli said that On December 8, he and BCCI selectors were discussing the Test team for the South Africa tour, before ending the call chief selector informed him that he is no longer the captain of the ODI team.
After clarifying almost everything in his press conference, from ODI captaincy, his rift with Rohit, and poor communication with BCCI, fans on Twitter showed their anger towards the BCCI and its president Sourav Ganguly.
