NAVI MUMBAI: Two persons were killed and three others were injured after the
Toyota Fortuner SUV in which they were travelling from Vashi towards CBD along the
Palm Beach road, lost control while preventing collision with an
autorickshaw.
The autorickshaw driver while coming from CBD took a sudden right turn, by jumping red traffic signal, at Nerul junction near Akshar building on Sunday around 3.15pm. The SUV losing control grazed the auto rickshaw and yanked towards the extreme left, somersaulted multiple times and crashed into the road median.
Pawan Bhingardive, assistant police inspector of Seawoods Traffic unit informed that one occupant in the SUV identified as Nagendra Singh (40) was killed on the spot, as he was declared brought dead at
MGM hospital in CBD.
While, the SUV driver Vijay Yadav (24) succumbed to his grievous injuries on Monday morning at the hospital. Three other injured men identified as Sarvesh Mishra, Dinesh Singh and Anurag Singh, who have sustained severe injuries are undergoing treatment at the hospital."
He said, "The auto driver and two passengers in his vehicle escaped unhurt. The accused autorickshaw driver fled from the accident spot by abandoning his vehicle. We have registered a FIR against him under relevant IPC sections and Motor Vehicle Act for rash and negligent driving causing death."
