Udupi: Udupi district in-charge minister V Sunil Kumar has directed the officials to ensure 90 percent of the eligible population is vaccinated with both doses of COVID shots by December end.

Sunil Kumar told this during a review meeting at Udupi district Deputy Commissioner’s office.

“Already 95 percent of the eligible population has been vaccinated with the first dose. Those who are due for the second dose and who have not yet taken have to be identified. If there are people who are hesitant to take the vaccination, senior officials should meet and convince them. By December end the district should achieve 90 percent in administering both the doses,” the minister said.

He directed the officials to increase Covid tests in all the government and private hostels and residential schools.

The Minister directed the officials to prepare a detailed report about the available beds in private hospitals, the number of beds that could be increased, and available oxygen and ventilator facilities in the district.
