Christian Horner shares his views

He has just told Sky F1 on the grid: 'We're just pumped up for this race, it's been a hell of a year.

'Max has been mighty all year, and we're just going to do exactly what we've done for every other race, and try and enjoy it.

'Sergio is going to be going for it. He did a wonderful job for us a team player yesterday, he's done brilliantly this year as well.

'We're not giving up anything in this championship, both are still open.'

Just as a reminder, the constructor's championship is still yet to be decided, too.

Mercedes have the lead with 587.5 points, while Red Bull are behind on 559.5.

The pit lane is open!

For the first time today, we have had cars heading out onto the grid.

Suddenly this all feels very real now. I'm excited. Are you?

We have just under 30 minutes to go until we get started.

Farewell to a legend

The title fight at the front of the grid will rightly take the headlined today, but let's not forget that this is Kimi Raikkonen's last race in F1.

What a career he has had - 349 races, 103 podiums, 21 wins and one world championship.

Let's hope he enjoys a blinding time this afternoon, one final time.

And yes Kimi, you can have your drink now.

Lewis Hamilton vows to give it 'everything'

'I've prepared in the best way possible, I've given it absolutely everything.

'It comes down to just doing what I love doing most, and just being me on track.

'Try to assess the situations around me, as composed and with the best intentions and the best energy I can, and give it everything.

'We don't know what the strategy is going to be, whether it's going to be a one or two stop.

'We definitely did a good job yesterday in getting through on the medium tyre in Q2. We're just going to have to see how it works for us.

'I think it's the right strategy, I truly believe in my guys. We'll be giving it everything we have.'

12:17
Max Verstappen says he is 'feeling good'

'We're feeling good. Let's see what the tyres do in the race but we're confident they will be decent.

'A lot of things can happen in the race in terms of strategy but at least it's the right tyre for the start.

'The start is important but also the rest of the race, a lot of things can happen and I really expect a tight battle. I'm looking forward to it.'

How do you see this race playing out?

Will Lewis Hamilton roar to an eight title, or will Max Verstappen claim his very first?

A reminder of how qualifying unfolded

Max Verstappen blitzed his way to yet another pole position yesterday, but may have been posed with a bit of a problem today.

A lock-up in Q2, and an unnecessary second lap, means that he will start the race on the soft tyres - but he would have wanted the mediums instead.

Lewis Hamilton has those harder tyres, and Verstappen's will degrade faster than his rival's, making for an interesting headache for Red Bull's strategy.

Expect the Mercedes hotshot to really push that Red Bull in his first stint. After that, who knows?

How the grid looks

Here is how the grid has shaped up for this afternoon's blockbuster.

There is one change at the bottom, though. Haas' Nikita Mazepin has tested positive for Covid-19, so will not be racing.

Lando Norris delivered a superb lap in Q3 to take third, and how Red Bull's race goes may well depend on how quickly Sergio Perez gets ahead of him.

Valtteri Bottas is back in sixth, behind Carlos Sainz, so it is shaping up to be a two-horse race between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

The calmest people in the paddock

You really wouldn't know all their hard work this season has come down to this race.

People inside the paddock have described both Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton as being incredibly relaxed, despite what's at stake.

Both drivers deserve so much credit for the entertainment they have provided in their title tussle, so let's hope for a clean resolution.

In just a few minutes, we'll take a look at how the whole grid will look...
